By creating a comprehensive greenhouse gas inventory, we have gained a more accurate understanding of our CO₂ footprint and are implementing targeted measures to reduce emissions and conserve resources. This spans from production and packaging to our stores and logistics. For example, we are optimizing energy efficiency in our buildings through LED lighting and renewable energy sources.

Transport & Logistics

In transport and logistics, we also focus on CO₂ reduction, short transport routes, and efficient planning. Products from external brands are delivered directly to regional distribution centers, while our exclusive brands** are distributed through an import hub in Rotterdam. We prefer sea freight over air freight for around 90% of our transport. CO₂ emissions resulting from online orders that cannot be reduced are offset by our logistics partners, such as DHL GoGreen. Another important lever for reducing CO₂ emissions is the construction and energy supply of our logistics centers, for example, with photovoltaic systems, as seen in our logistics center in Bedburg.

Resources & Waste

Conscious management of raw materials is essential to minimize resource waste. We focus on a holistic approach to resource conservation and switch to recycled alternatives for conventional materials wherever possible. Our main focus is on packaging, production waste, and the recyclability of textiles.

Wherever possible, we reduce packaging in transport and production. For our exclusive brand products, we transport three to six items in so-called master polybags to avoid individual packaging. Where packaging is necessary, we opt for environmentally friendly alternatives. The paper used for our FSC-certified bags, boxes, and shipping envelopes is made from wood sourced from responsible forestry, and the handles of shipping boxes are made from biodegradable plastic based on renewable plant materials.

To promote the circular economy, we work with partners on take-back systems for used textiles, new recycling methods, and clothing refurbishment programs.
